University education

The courses in the university programme will offer you top-level knowledge which is required for first-class opportunities as managers of companies and projects, for introducing new working systems, developing products, components and technologies as well as researching.

The course lasts for 9 semesters, i.e. 4,5 years.

In Year 3 students may select one of the following options:
- Power and process engineering,
- Design and mechanics,
- Mechatronics, micromechanical systems and automatization
- Production engineering.

Year 4 students decide to apply for a specific degree within the already chosen course.

- Heat technology
- Processing technology and environment technology.

Course: “Design and mechanics”
Modules:
- Element and structure modelling
- Drive technology
- Drive engines and transport mechanisms
- Mobile technology
- Non linear structure mechanics
- Engine dynamics
- Polymer and composite mechanics.

Course: “Mechatronics, micromechanical systems and automatization”
Modules:
- Mechatronics and micromechanical systems
- Automatization in power and processing techniques
- Laser technology.

Course: “Production engineering”
Modules:
- Production technologies
- Production engineering
- Welding technologies.


About the studies:

The university degree course in the Faculty in Ljubljana caters for full-time students only.

The organized educational work comprises lectures, practical classes, seminars, excursions and working / professional internship.

The internship is completed in July or August (during summer vacations) in companies or in institutions for higher education.


University graduation requirements:

Students may graduate from the university undergraduate course of mechanical engineering when they pass all the obligatory examinations, a seminar, complete the internship and write and defend a positively graded dissertation.
The dissertation has to be a scientific and research paper. There are many options for dissertation topics which are offered by scientific, research and development projects of individual research groups.
