DAYS OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING: The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Ljubljana is holding its traditional Days of Mechanical Engineering at the Technical Museum of Slovenia Bistra, Vrhnika, allowing a broader audience to see its students’ and researchers’ exceptional projects, and the possibility of helping produce creative solutions. Days of Mechanical Engineering will be held from 25 to 29 September, 2018, between 9.00 and 13.00, and on Sunday 30 September, 2018, between 11.00 and 18.00.

With this event, we seek to provide primary and secondary school students, as well as interested individuals, an insight into the attractive world of engineering creativity. At this year’s Days of Mechanical Engineering, visitors will learn about laser measuring and the automatic modelling of complex 3D shapes, interesting facts about mobile robots, what enables drones to fly, what automatic diagnostic systems are and where they are used, how hydraulic components are programmed, what makes laser engraving and welding simulations interesting, and much more. We are very pleased to see that this event and its presented technologies are of great interest to the public; we therefore try to present as many interesting facts as possible every year.

Visitors can attend the event by purchasing a museum ticket. Find more information about the event and its presentations at TMS.

RESEARCHERS' NIGHT: The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Ljubljana will once again take part in the pan-European Researcher’s Night. In collaboration with the Technical Museum of Slovenia, we will hold the event on Friday 28 September, 2018, from 17.00 to 22.00 in Bistra pri Vrhniki. This event is free of charge.

European Researchers’ Night is a pan-European event organised as part of the research and technological development programme Horizon 2020. On the European Commission’s initiative, European science and research organisations open their doors to introduce the general public to their professional lives. In addition to the other presentations held as part of the Days of Mechanical Engineering, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering will present to the public two formulae designed and created by its students as part of the Formula Student Project. These two products represent an engineering achievement because they include solutions designed and created by students assisted by professors and sponsors, and will help suppliers in the car industry. Visitors will also be able to see Pipistrel’s new two-seat electric trainer, the Alpha Electro.

As part of the Power of the Night Project, the joint consortium-partner project House of Experiments, Jozef Stefan Institute, Centre for Technology Transfer and Innovation, Chemical Institute and Technical Museum of Slovenia, the Technical Museum of Slovenia will offer a free guided tour of the periodic Knowledge without Frontiers exhibition for families, a tour of the periodic Imaginary exhibition and the drop-in workshop Building the City of Poliedrija prepared by the Mathema Institute, and a presentation by the Intellectual Property Office alongside the exhibition When an Idea Becomes Property: Peter Florjančič and intellectual property.
