Prof. Dr. Iztok Golobič, recipient of the Golden Plaque of the University of Ljubljana

On 3 December 2019, the Rector of the University of Ljubljana, Prof. Dr. Igor Papič, awarded the honours of the University of Ljubljana in the ceremonial session of the Senate, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the University. At the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Iztok Golobič, Head of the Laboratory for Thermal Technology at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, received the Golden Plaque of the University. The Rector awards the Golden Plaque to individuals for their outstanding merit to the development of scientific, pedagogical, or artistic creations and the strengthening of the reputation of the University.

The Rector of the University of Ljubljana, Prof. Dr. Igor Papič, emphasized on the occasion of this anniversary that the University of Ljubljana has contributed to the progress of the state and society from the very beginning, that all employees and students strive daily for the progress of the University and that he is looking forward to its future. “We are a comprehensive university that offers studies in practically all areas. Our researchers and alumni are the driving force behind research, new findings, and international success, with which Slovenia strengthens its international reputation.

The Golden Plaque award, which is presented at the University of Ljubljana for outstanding merits to the development of scientific, pedagogical, or artistic creations and the strengthening of the reputation of the University, was this year awarded to 15 professors of the University of Ljubljana.

PRESENTATION OF THE GOLDEN PLAQUE WINNER

Prof. Dr. Iztok Golobič founded the Laboratory for Thermal Technology at the UL FS in 1998 and has been its Head ever since, as well as the Head of the Department of Process Technology. He is currently serving as a Senator, Chair of the Department, Head of the Laboratory, Head of the Public Space Committee at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, and, at the same time, a member of the Innovation Committee at the University of Ljubljana. In his scientific research work, he constantly focuses on the use of top scientific results in industrial practice. It is in daily contact with the real problems of the Slovenian economy and cooperates with the best universities worldwide.
