The Slovenian government endorsed a list of important investments for post-crisis economic recovery on Thursday 18 June, 2020, which will receive priority treatment by state institutions. In the context of regional development, including investment in education, it includes the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering’s new premises.

The project’s urban design competition is already completed. Sadar+Vuga were the winners of the architecture competition, offering an appropriate, innovative, attractive, recognisable, modern, functional and, most of all, feasible expert solution. The building’s architectural design is primarily based on what we do at the Faculty today and our expectations for the future of mechanical engineering, taking into consideration the rapid progress of mechanical engineering in the preceding decade and our need for space to better develop the broad range of technical subjects we offer, which is key to the long-term development and competitiveness of mechanical engineering and its stakeholders.

The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering will thus move to Brdo University Centre; the project’s value is estimated at €48m and work on it is expected to begin by the end of 2022.
