At the National Academy of Engineering NAE's annual meeting in Washington, D.C., on October 4 2020, 86 new members and 18 international members were officially accepted to the Academy. This brings the total U.S. membership to 2,309 and the number of international members to 281. Among the new international members is also the former Professor of Mechanics at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Ljubljana, prof. dr. Igor Emri  who is only the second Slovenian to be accepted into this prestigious organization.

Election to the National Academy of Engineering is among the highest professional distinctions accorded to an engineer.  Academy membership honours those who have made outstanding contributions to "engineering research, practice, or education, including, where appropriate, significant contributions to the engineering literature" and to "the pioneering of new and developing fields of technology, making major advancements in traditional fields of engineering, or developing/implementing innovative approaches to engineering education."

You can see the list of the newly elected members and international members here.

We congratulate all of them for their outstanding achievement.
