A method for identifying the frequency response function of a pressure measurement system in the high-frequency range

The only known time-varying pressure generator capable of providing metrological traceability for time-varying pressure to the International System of Units (SI) in the few kHz range is the shock tube, in which the shock waves are generated to apply an almost ideal pressure step change to the pressure transducer under calibration. Researchers of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering proposed and evaluated a method for identifying the frequency response function of a pressure measurement system in the high-frequency range using an independent, traceable pressure step signal generated in a shock tube as the reference input signal. The uncertainty analysis shows that the proposed method used with the developed diaphragmless shock tube determines the amplitude ratio of the piezoelectric pressure measurement system with a relative expanded uncertainty of less than 5% and a phase lag with an expanded uncertainty of less than 9° in the 10 kHz range. The research was published in Mechanical Systems and Signal Processing (IF = 6.471), one of the leading journals in the field of signal processing.
