The University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (UL FS), and the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Slovenia (MORS) have signed a new agreement further strengthening their long-standing cooperation. The agreement was signed by Prof. Dr Jernej Klemenc, Dean of UL FS, and Colonel Alenka Petek, Deputy Commander of the Doctrine, Development, Education and Training Command.
The new agreement reinforces cooperation particularly in the area of flight training and the activities of the two institutions’ aviation schools. It provides a formal framework for coordinating responsibilities, sharing practical expertise and planning pilot training, while also extending cooperation into new areas of expertise.
A particular focus is placed on unmanned aircraft systems. Cooperation will include the exchange of knowledge and experience in their development and operation, training for operators and pilots, shared use of simulators, and opportunities to provide the flight hours required for maintaining pilot licences.
As part of the existing cooperation, UL FS already provides education and training for Slovenian Armed Forces scholarship recipients preparing for careers as military pilots. The new agreement builds on this established partnership and creates further opportunities to bring together academic expertise, practical experience and training in the fields of aviation and unmanned systems.
