Yesterday, Cankarjev Dom hosted the presentation of interim results of the Greentech project, which brings together academic and industrial partners to develop advanced technologies for the green transition. The project leader, Prof. Dr. Janko Slavič from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Ljubljana, emphasized that close cooperation between science and industry ensures the project does not remain just on paper but delivers real changes in industry and society.
The project, worth €5.2 million—of which €3.75 million comes from the Recovery and Resilience Plan—started on January 1 last year and will run until June 30, 2026. In 2025, it exceeded expectations: 20 innovations have been introduced, nine patents filed, eight new products developed, and results published in more than 30 scientific papers. “We are achieving most of the set goals and are ready to enter the market. The key is close collaboration with industry, which carries out the majority of the work and co-financing,” Slavič stressed at the event.
The consortium includes leading Slovenian companies such as Gorenje, Fotona, Domel, Yaskawa Slovenia, and Danfoss Trata, along with university partners. Over the next ten years, full implementation of these solutions is expected to reduce CO₂ emissions by more than 17 million tons, cut energy consumption by nearly nine billion kilowatt-hours, and significantly improve material efficiency.
The investment is co-financed by the European Union – NextGenerationEU.
