Validity of completed practice and taking practice for previous years

Validity of completed practice

Course practice is valid for at least 3 years, when the student passes them with a positive grade and when they have reached all necessary conditions to take the exam (decision of the UL FS Senate of 26/03/2015). The decision applies to generations enrolled from 2014/15 onwards.

Carrying out practice for previous years

Students who want to carry out their course practice from the previous year and students who do not currently have student status to carry out the course practice must submit an Application for doing the practice to the student affairs office, no later than September 15th of the current academic year.

Students who are not enrolled in a current year of a study programme, from which they are taking the course practice, will be charged for it in accordance with the Price List of the UL. If students have justifiable reasons for not completing the practice,
as defined in Article 125 of the Statute of UL, they can also attach the Application for exemption from payment together with
the Application for taking the practice (all documents must be attached with the application).

In the ac. year 2024/25, the cost of the course practice carried out by students outside the enrolled year of the programme, for all subjects in the
I. and II. level of study (regardless of the number of credit points) is charged EUR 264.00 each. A student without student status ,who
carries out the course practice as part of a course with more than 3 KT is charged for taking the exam in addition to taking the exercises
(decision from the dean’s collegium of September 2, 2024).

Students who are enrolled in the additional year of VS and UN for the first time are not charged for taking exercises for
3rd year courses. Students who are enrolled in the additional year of MAG for the first time are not charged for taking
course practice for 2nd year subjects (decision from the dean’s collegium of September 11, 2023).

By submitting an application to the student affairs office, the student undertakes to completely carry out all course practice in the following academic year and to settle all financial obligations on time.

Application for the Bachelor’s Thesis Topic:

The student must submit the application for the Bachelor’s thesis topic in the VIS system. The topic must be approved by the Chair of the competent thesis committee at least one month prior to the submission of the thesis. When applying for the topic, the student must provide:

  • the title of the thesis in Slovene and English,
  • the supervisor and, if applicable, a co-supervisor,
  • a thesis proposal (1,000–1,500 characters) including the definition of the topic, purpose and objectives of the final work, and the planned methods,
  • the field of the thesis, and
  • any cooperation with a company.

If the final thesis is prepared in cooperation with a company, the student must sign the Agreement on the Recognition of Intellectual Property Rights in the Preparation of the Final Thesis in Cooperation with a Company (Slovene/English). The text of the agreement must not be modified; only the contact details of the parties should be added, and Annex 1 must be completed.

The proposed thesis topic must be grammatically correct and clearly define: the professional problem, the scope of work to be completed within the planned timeframe, and the methodology for solving the task.

Once the topic is approved, a record of the approved thesis topic is generated in the VIS system (Studies Completion / Certificate of Approved Topic). The student must obtain the signatures of the supervisor/co-supervisor and include the signed topic as the second page of the final thesis.

Once the supervisor approves the submission in the VIS system, the student must send the completed and signed Technical Review Form for Bachelor’s and Master’s Thesis together with the thesis by email (studentski.referat@fs.uni-lj.si) to the Student Office.

The Student Office forwards the thesis to the Quality Review Committee, which reviews the thesis and informs the student of any required corrections. After the student revises the thesis accordingly, it can be submitted in the VIS system.

The thesis is then checked for content similarity using plagiarism detection software connected to the VIS system.
