The HyBReED program is focused on introducing sustainable solutions in the fields of hydrogen, batteries, and industrial transition, contributing to the further development of the energy sector. Its purpose is to strengthen the energy sector by developing methods for the efficient production, storage, and use of hydrogen, emphasizing the potential of hydrogen and batteries for energy-intensive industries.
The main goal of the program is to improve existing sustainable solutions (products and processes) for the energy sector, including technologies for production, transport, storage, energy utilization, and the use of hydrogen and batteries in energy-intensive industries. To achieve this goal, the consortium brings together leading Slovenian stakeholders in the fields of hydrogen use, batteries, and the dual transition for sustainable economic growth, following the objectives of the European Green Deal, the REPowerEU plan, and the Recovery and Resilience Plan, and contributing to the achievement of EU climate neutrality goals by reducing CO2 emissions in the steel, glass, and aluminum industries.
The consortium includes, alongside leading sectoral public research organizations, Slovenian energy-intensive companies in the fields of renewable energy, steel, aluminum, glass, and electronics. HyBReED thus facilitates the transfer of knowledge from relevant fields and scientific environments within the consortium, striving for greater awareness, promotion of innovation and development in the field of hydrogen technologies in Slovenia, and the general social acceptance of hydrogen technologies.
