meta4.0 is a 2-year Master’s programme fully taught in English and jointly offered by 6 universities
in France, Slovenia, Norway, Germany and Italy with one primary objective, facing the future challenges
of Manufacturing 4.0 by educating a new generation of students to a level of excellence in: Digital Manufacturing, Clean Manufacturing, Sustainable Manufacturing and Smart Manufacturing.

During Year 1, all meta4.0 students will be first welcomed in France, in Saint-Etienne, in the end of August and will participate to the integration events, including the introduction of all the partners and flow of their study, seminars given by invited speakers, intensive French course, team building activities and field-trip (visit of some key companies of the region).

They will then start their academic period and attend a series of core courses reflecting the fundamentals of the programme.

The second semester, however, is spent in Turin, Italy, where the courses serve as an upgrade of the basis learned in the first semester in France.

During Year 2, the students will get specialized in one of the key Manufacturing 4.0 topics and conduct their Master thesis. Semester 3 will start from the end of August.
The cohort will be distributed equally between the four specializations, with a minimum of 5 students in each degree awarding universities.
At the beginning of semester 2, presentations of the specialization tracks will be given to inform the students about the different possibilities and content.
Students will have to express their interest for three of them by Mid of March.
The final allocation will be based on their interest but also on their academic performance and 1er Semester ranking (only scientific field scores).

In order to enforce the multilingual experience of the meta4.0 students optional language courses (local language) will be offered in Italy, Norway, Slovenia and Germany.

An answer to the current and future needs of industry – becoming “greener” is expected to create more than 1 million jobs by 2030, while there are already currently 1 million vacancies in Europe for digital technology experts. Today, 70% of companies report that they cannot find the people with the right skills.

meta4.0 has been designed to respond to the needs of society and the labour market. Graduates will become the future manufacturing experts that will work worldwide and upgrade the skills in the current industry to fill the gaps.

meta4.0 innovatively combines theoretical and applied courses with labs and internships in a multidisciplinary environment.

The programme has been precisely structured to cover during the first year the fundamentals on manufacturing technologies in France and then materials science and engineering in Italy in order to fit the graduates with strong mandatory basis. You will be proposed 4 specializations during the second year and will be able to study in Norway, Slovenia, France or Germany.

Graduated from meta4.0, you will become a highly qualified engineering or scientific staff, in a public or a private sector, trained on key topics such as digitalization, sustainability or advanced manufacturing. meta4.0 will make you benefit form a genuine European learning space and an international network.

Among the five largest EU Member States, Germany manufacturing sector contributed to one third of the EU’s value added in 2018, followed by Italy and France who also recorded a large share. This confirms that we have to be the main actors to lead the change of the Manufacturing 4.0!

meta4.0 thus aims of boosting the academic and industrial cooperation with six of the most prominent universities in Europe in the field of Manufacturing.
