The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Ljubljana hereby announces a call for applications for the double degree programme in cooperation with the University of Naples Parthenope for the academic year 2026/27. The programme enables students to obtain degrees from both partner universities.
Course of Study
In the academic year 2025/26, the student must complete the first year at the UL Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in accordance with the accredited curriculum of the second-cycle Master’s study programme in Mechanical Engineering – Research and Development Programme, specialization in Energy Engineering or Process Engineering.
In the academic year 2026/27, the student must enrol in the second year of the second-cycle Master’s study programme in Mechanical Engineering – Research and Development Programme, specialization in Energy Engineering or Process Engineering, and simultaneously at the University of Naples Parthenope.
The second year of study (the curriculum is presented in the table below) is completed within the Master’s programme in Management/Mechanical Engineering at the University of Naples Parthenope.

The teaching process and examinations at the partner university are conducted in English. The student prepares the Master’s thesis under the supervision of two supervisors (one from each partner institution), and the thesis must be written in English. The defence of the Master’s thesis is conducted in English in a hybrid format before a joint committee of both universities. Upon successful completion of the defence and fulfilment of all study obligations (with at least 60 ECTS credits completed at each institution), the student is awarded degrees from both universities.
Number of Available Places
Two places are available for students of the UL Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.
Funding
Students:
- pay tuition fees in accordance with the regulations of their home institution,
- are exempt from paying tuition fees at the host university,
- cover travel, accommodation, insurance, and other personal mobility-related expenses.
Eligibility Requirements
Applications are open to students enrolled in the first year of the second-cycle Master’s study programme in Mechanical Engineering – Research and Development Programme, specialization in:
- Energy Engineering, or
- Process Engineering.
Students must demonstrate appropriate motivation for international cooperation and study in an international environment.

Candidates wishing to enrol in the programme and meeting the application requirements must submit their application to Kristijan.Grguric@fs.uni-lj.si no later than 10 June 2026.

- a curriculum vitae (CV),
- a motivation letter in English, and
- a certificate of completed study obligations.
Selection Criteria
The selection of candidates is based on the following criteria:
- academic performance (grade point average) – 40%,
- motivation letter – 40%,
- interview with the candidate – 20%.
