We are pleased to announce that Asst. Prof. Dr. Primož Poredoš of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Ljubljana, is the recipient of the Excellent in Science 2025 recognition, awarded by the Scientific Research Council for Engineering Sciences within the Slovenian Research and Innovation Agency (ARIS). The achievement was presented to the public at the ARIS Day 2025 event.

Dr. Poredoš is a researcher and educator at the Laboratory for Environmental Technologies in Buildings. His research focuses on sustainable energy, thermal engineering, radiant cooling, and innovative approaches to harvesting water from air. He received the recognition for an outstanding scientific achievement entitled:

Concentrated passive cooling with a power density above 1 kW/m² using materials for daytime radiative cooling

The authors of the awarded achievement are:

Dr. Primož Poredoš, Dr. He Shan, Dr. Chenxi Wang, Zhihui Chen, Zhao Shao, Dr. Fangfang Deng, Dr. Haoran Liu, Jiaqi Yu, Dr. Ruzhu Wang

The shortage of drinking water and the need for efficient cooling are among the key challenges of the modern world. Our research demonstrates that innovative materials can deliver exceptional passive cooling performance, opening up new avenues for sustainable solutions in energy and the environment. I am delighted that our joint international achievement has been recognized as an important contribution to science,” said Asst. Prof. Dr. Primož Poredoš upon receiving the recognition.

Warm congratulations to Asst. Prof. Dr. Primož Poredoš and all co-authors!
