Minister of the Interior Boštjan Poklukar, Head of Cabinet Nataša Hvala Ivančič, Secretary General Erik Pagon, Director General of the Policeand Security Directorate dr. Darijo Levačić and Deputy Director General of the Police Igor Ciperle today attended a working meeting at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Ljubljana. The main purpose of the meeting was to establish cooperation between the Air Support Unit, which provides comprehensive helicopter support, and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in the training of students in the field of air and helicopter transport pilots, and to promote employment in the Slovenian Police.
The Dean of the Faculty, prof. dr. Mihael Sekavčnik, the Vice-Deans, prof. dr. Jernej Klemenc and prof. dr. Franci Pušavec, the Secretary of the Faculty, dr. Tone Češnovar, and the Senior Lecturer, dr. Igor Petrović, presented to the delegation the study of aeronautics at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, which is part of the first cycle of higher vocational study programme in Mechanical Engineering – the Project Applied Programme (PAP).
In a productive discussion, the participants agreed that it will be worthwhile in the future to re-establish systematic cooperation to address the shortage of personnel in the field of aeronautics and, to this end, it will be necessary to increase the visibility and attractiveness of this field of study.
They agreed to sign a strategic cooperation agreement in the near future, outlining the first concrete steps to attract students from UL’s Faculty of Mechanical Engineering to work in the Slovenian Police Air Support Unit.
