The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Ljubljana has received the Award for Developing an Approach to Promoting Dual Careers for Athletes for the period from October 1, 2025, to September 30, 2026. This recognition is awarded by the Olympic Committee of Slovenia – Sports Association (OKS-ZŠZ) to educational institutions that provide tailored education for athletes, supporting their success both in sports and academics.

The purpose of the “Sports-Friendly Education” certificate is to recognize environments that allow athletes to balance their sporting commitments with their education. The certificate directly facilitates a system of informing athletes about educational institutions offering better conditions for their studies and represents a positive added value for these institutions.

The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering has been actively supporting the sports activities of its students and staff for many years. The FS Sports Society, founded in 1985, organizes various sports activities and encourages participation in sports events both domestically and abroad. In 2015, the faculty received a university award for its contribution to the development and integration of physical education, marking the 50th anniversary of sports at the University of Ljubljana.

Receiving the award for developing an approach to promoting dual careers for athletes confirms the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering’s commitment to creating a supportive environment where students can successfully balance their academic and athletic ambitions.
