The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Ljubljana hosted a ceremonial presentation of the University Volleyball League (UVL) Challenge Trophy for the 2025/2026 season. The trophy was awarded in recognition of the Faculty’s student volleyball team, which claimed the University Championship title this season.
The ceremony brought together representatives of the University of Ljubljana Sports Association, the Faculty leadership and members of the championship-winning student team in the Dean’s Reception Room. The Challenge Trophy was presented by Rok Petrič, Secretary General of the University of Ljubljana Sports Association, and Gregor Hribar, Head of the University Volleyball League. The event was hosted by Professor Jernej Klemenc, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, and attended by Žiga Bratož, manager of the Faculty’s volleyball team.
On this occasion, Dean Klemenc congratulated the volleyball team on their outstanding achievement and emphasized the important role of sport in student life. He also extended his congratulations to other successful student-athletes from the Faculty, including the team that won the University Big Canoe Championship and Blaž Smrkolj, University Champion in badminton.
Winning the University Championship marks an important milestone for the Faculty’s volleyball team and reflects the dedication, teamwork and perseverance of its members. For many years, the University Volleyball League has brought together students from across the University of Ljubljana, promoting athletic excellence, collaboration and a strong sense of community.
The Challenge Trophy will be displayed at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering over the coming year as a symbol of the team’s achievement and a source of inspiration for future generations of students.
