On 16 March 2023, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of UL held a mathematics competition for the Vega Awards, in which 29 first and second cycle students participated.
Nine students won bronze awards: Tine Bogataj, Lovro Drofenik, Matej Pevc, Nejc Amon, Aljaž Kirar, Maks Andrin, Tin Gošnik, Timotej Ambrožič, and Jaka Gregorc.
Two students, Lovro Drofenik (2nd year UNI) and Tine Bogataj (1st year UNI), qualified for the national competition, which took place on 22 April at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of UL. Both competitors showed excellent skills in the national competition. Among the 41 participants from all universities, who competed together regardless of their field of study and year of study, Lovro came 2nd and Tine came 9th, both of whom also received the gold Vega Award.
The successful participants were received by the Dean, prof. dr. Mihael Sekavčnik, and together with the School Board, consisting of Ddr. Janez Žerovnik, doc. dr. Darja Rupnik Poklukar and asist.dr. Helena Zakrajšek, they received the bronze and gold Vega awards.
