At the 2025/26 Ljubljana University Badminton Championship, students from the University of Ljubljana’s Faculty of Mechanical Engineering once again proved that they belong among the elite of university sports. In a fiercely competitive field, Blaž Smrkolj, a student at the University of Ljubljana’s Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, successfully defended his title as university champion among unregistered competitors. Meanwhile, while Rio Pangršič rounded off the faculty’s excellent performance by finishing in third place.

Second-year master’s student Blaž Smrkolj once again claimed the title of Ljubljana University Badminton Champion for unregistered players, thanks to his consistent performances throughout the tournament. He successfully defended his title from last year, standing on the top step of the podium once again after his outstanding performances.

Second-year university student Rio Pangršič also achieved an excellent result, winning a bronze medal and making a significant contribution to the success of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the championship.

The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering’s success was further highlighted by Peter Trobec, who finished in an excellent 4th place, and Nejc Kragelj, who placed among the top 13 in the competition.

The tournament was marked by great sportsmanship, intense matches, and a fantastic atmosphere, and university badminton continues to attract more and more students every year.
