As part of the “We will be engineers!” initiative, the Inženirska iskra (Engineering Spark) Awards were presented for the fifth time last week, and Peskovnik – the Open Lab of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Ljubljana – received a special award at the ceremony.
Each year the Inženirska iskra Awards recognise ground-breaking, original practices, projects, events or people that have made a significant contribution to the development and excitement of the engineering profession and innovation in society. Winners can be individuals, projects and organisations working in a school environment that have a significant impact on young people’s entry into the world of engineering.
Peskovnik – the Open Lab of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Ljubljana – also received a special honourable mention at the ceremony. Since its launch in 2022, the Open Lab has become an important hub of innovation and networking, bringing together students from different departments of the University of Ljubljana with an exceptional range of activities and workshops, winning numerous awards and praise for their projects, while at the same time giving them the opportunity to gain the knowledge and experience to develop prototypes and products on their own.
Peskovnik – the Open Lab works on the principle of ‘students for students’, promoting interdisciplinary networking, and therefore deserves an honourable mention from the Inženirska iskra, according to the “We will be engineers!” initiative.
