In a ceremonial session of the Senate, the University of Ljubljana (UL) awarded golden plaques to individuals and groups for outstanding contributions to the development of scientific, pedagogical, or artistic creation and for promoting the reputation of the University of Ljubljana, as well as ceremonial certificates to young university teachers and university staff for outstanding pedagogical, scientific, and artistic achievements.

We are an excellent research university, which is proven by our achievements,” said the Rector of the University of Ljubljana, Prof. Gregor Majdič, PhD, at the ceremonial session of the Senate. In his address, he emphasised that the main task of the University is to teach and care for students, including those in need. With this in mind, he invited the participants to a charity concert as part of the Heart UL campaign, which will take place on 6 December in the premises of the University of Ljubljana’s Academy of Music.

Prof. Mitjan Kalin, PhD was also awarded a golden plaque for outstanding contributions to the development of scientific, pedagogical, or artistic work and for promoting the reputation of the University of Ljubljana.

Prof. Mitjan Kalin, PhD has made a significant contribution to the global development of tribology and surface nanotechnology with his outstanding work at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Ljubljana. With his dedicated work as Vice Dean and Dean, he was responsible for the continuous growth of scientific and educational excellence and recognition of mechanical engineering in Slovenia and internationally. He has been very involved in the management of the new building project from the very beginning.
