On Thursday, 13 March 2025, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Ljubljana hosted the presentation of the new competition aircraft of the Edvard Rusjan Team, which will represent Slovenia in the prestigious international Design/Build/Fly 2025 competition. The event was attended by media representatives and aviation enthusiasts, and the team, made up of students from various faculties of the University of Ljubljana, gave a detailed presentation on the development of the Svarog aircraft, the technical challenges and innovations that were incorporated into the design. The aircraft is designed to perform three challenging missions, including flying three laps, carrying payloads and launching the X-1 autonomous glider.
Technical highlights of the presentation:
- The Svarog aircraft is optimised to perform three missions
- The aircraft can reach speeds of up to 190km/h and withstand forces of up to 10G.
- The wing is load tested to 700kg, proving its durability.
- The X-1 system is equipped with an autopilot that allows precision landing in a designated area.
The event was also an opportunity to gain an insight into the work of a team that has been delivering outstanding results at an international level for over 17 years. In the past, they have won two titles (2015 and 2019), finished runners-up in 2023 and been ranked among the TOP five teams in the world five times. According to the latest rankings, they are currently the fourth best team in the world and the best in Europe.
With over 50 hours of testing and optimising aircraft systems, the Edvard Rusjan Team remains committed to innovation and excellence in aeronautical engineering.
