The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Ljubljana hosted the ninth annual Student Technical Conference “ŠTeKam”. The conference, which opens the door to scientific research and encourages students to find innovative solutions, was attended by students from Bežigrad and Ledina gymnasia, as well as students from the Faculty of Biotechnology, the Faculty of Economics, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, the Faculty of Computer Science and Informatics, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering, the Faculty of Education, the Technical University of Munich and the Jožef Stefan Institute

Out of a total of 38 papers submitted by students to “ŠTeKam”, 26 were presented at the conference: The conference participants voted for the best paper:

1. SECTION 1 – Borut Božič: Analysis of the movement of particles and other impurities in crude oil through a pipeline at the outlet of an axial piston pump
2. SECTION 2 – Marija Gorjanc, Marija Okršlar: Home-grown bacterial cellulose as an alternative to materials in the fashion industry

All papers will be published in the conference proceedings and entered into the Cobiss system under the typology Published scientific paper at the conference, thus providing students with an officially accessible reference of their scientific research. At the same time, they will be able to claim their participation in the conference as an outstanding achievement, which is one of the conditions for obtaining the Zois scholarship.

From the very beginning, the conference has been organised by an editorial board consisting of: Assist. Prof. Tomaž Berlec, PhD, Assoc. Prof. Miha Brojan, PhD and Assist. Prof. Boštjan Drobnič, PhD.
