On Wednesday 26 February 2025, the electorate of the Faculty of Engineering elected a new Dean. Two candidates ran for the post in the second round, but it was Prof. Dr. Jernej Klemenec, the current Vice-Dean for Pedagogical Activities at Levels II and III, who was elected with 51.4% of the votes. Following the official appointment of the Rector of the University of Ljubljana, Prof. Dr. Jernej Klemenc will lead, represent and guide the Faculty during the term of office from 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2027.

Prof. Dr. Jernej Klemenc has been at the Faculty since 1996 and has worked his way up from a young researcher to a postdoctoral researcher to a professor with a teaching post. During this time he also worked outside the Faculty, as a researcher at Cimos and at the University of Southern Illinois Carbondale (USA) and as a visiting lecturer at the TU Kaiserslautern (Germany). Since 2013, he has been in charge of the Laboratory for Structure Evaluation LAVEK, deputy head of the Chair of Machine Elements and Development Evaluation KSERV, and, since 2017, Senator. Between 2010 and 2021, he managed all national and international re-accreditation procedures for all three levels of study. The current Dean, Prof. Dr. Mihael Sekavčnik, has entrusted him with the position of Vice-Dean for Levels II and III during his term of office from 2021 to 2025.

The future Dean’s aim is to make the Faculty’s key values a peaceful working environment, mutual respect and cooperation, and a Faculty that is balanced in research and teaching. All members of staff will be involved in the implementation of the set goals, especially the close management team of the Dean, consisting of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Miha Brojan, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Matevž Zupančič and the current Vice-Dean for Pedagogical Activities, Prof. Dr. Franci Pušavec.

We would like to congratulate Prof. Dr. Jernej Klemenec on the support he has received from the electorate and wish him and his team every success in their work.
