In this year’s ‘Student Idea with Business Potential’ competition, organised by IRT3000 in cooperation with the EIT Manufacturing Hub Slovenia and supported by SPIRIT Slovenia and the Ljubljana University Incubator, two UL Faculty of Mechanical Engineering students achieved remarkable success by taking 1st and 3rd place in the student entrepreneurship category.
Vid Nemec convinced the expert committee with his project “System for precise tyre pressure regulation and monitoring”. His solution increases speed and precision while reducing the need for pit stops, which is particularly useful in motorsport but also has wider application value. The project was presented excellently at the closing event, attracting the greatest interest.
Matevž Menart took an excellent 3rd place with his innovative idea, the ‘Pelletrudor — a pellet extruder for FDM 3D printers‘. This device enables direct 3D printing from pellets, making printing ten times cheaper. The innovation also adds value by significantly shortening the 3D printing process. He developed the idea within the context of Peskovnik, an open laboratory at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering which encourages students to develop practical ideas, collaborate across disciplines, and think entrepreneurially.
The success of both students confirms that the Faculty is a place not only for acquiring knowledge, but also for innovation and creativity, and for finding the courage to embark on an entrepreneurial journey.
Congratulations and best wishes for continued success!
