The research paper “Waste Heat – Problem or Solution?” has been voted by readers as the University of Ljubljana’s most engaging research achievement of 2025. Selected from 49 research highlights, it topped the public vote on the University’s website and social media channels.
The study was conducted by researchers from the Laboratory for Refrigeration and District Heating and Cooling (LAHDE) at the UL Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, in collaboration with international experts. Their findings show that waste heat, harnessed through advanced high-temperature heat pumps, could become an important source of clean energy in the future—particularly for industry and the energy sector.
