For the sixth year in a row, the University of Ljubljana (UL) has honoured colleagues for their significant contribution to the improvement of work processes and the positive climate at its member institutions and the Rectorate. The award ceremony took place as part of University Week, a week of festive events traditionally organised by UL to mark the anniversary of the founding of Slovenia’s oldest university.
The Rector of the University of Ljubljana, prof. dr. Gregor Majdič, addressed the award winners. “The University of Ljubljana employs more than 2,000 assistant professors out of a total of about 6,500 employees, which shows how valuable and indispensable your work and the many tasks you perform are.” Mag. Barbara Bergant Kaučič, Head of the Finance and Accounting Department at our Faculty and APIS Key User Coordinator for Sales, who also addressed the laureates, added: “A good professional colleague is distinguished by qualities that contribute to his professionalism, efficiency and job satisfaction, such as professionalism, creativity, responsibility, ability to cooperate.”

Our colleagues Davorin Šinkovec and Grega Tomažin also received awards.
Davorin Šinkovec has been a member of the Finance and Accounting Department at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Ljubljana for many years, making sure that his colleagues’ salaries are paid on time and correctly, and that they have always been paid on time, regardless of external circumstances or health conditions. With a positive, proactive personal approach and sacrifice, he ensured that the challenges of the Corona era and the transition to SAP did not leave a mark on his colleagues and the Faculty’s business.

Grega Tomažin is a member of the computer centre staff who ensures the smooth running of the network infrastructure daily. During the pandemic, his knowledge and enthusiasm played a key role in establishing teleworking. He has been actively involved in redesigning the Faculty’s website, setting up APIS and advising on the purchase of computer equipment. He is characterised by modesty, hard work and initiative.
