The 9th Mechanical Engineering Summer School offered 11 workshops this year: Building and Modelling a Portable Weather Station; Building and Testing Model Cars; A Smart Solar Flower; Building a Model Airplane; 3D Printed Products; A Hydraulic Soft Robot; Building a Mini Wind Farm; A Stirling Engine – A Challenge for Sustainable Development; Building a Simple Heat Engine; HPC High Performance Computing; and Modelling and Making Your Own Gasket. 91 participants, including 9 girls, participated in the workshops to first design, then build, and finally test their product.

The workshops also taught participants about tools, how to use them safely and what professional equipment is used at the Faculty. The participants in the workshop “Building a simple heat engine” visited the Ljubljana thermal power plant, while the participants who spent time with us in the afternoon visited the Iskra Mehanizmi company, among others.

Many of them attended the Summer School of Mechanical Engineering because they are interested in technology and would like to study mechanical engineering one day.

The Summer School of Mechanical Engineering is supported by ZOTKS (Zveza za tehnično kulturo Slovenije) and EIT Manufacturing Hub Slovenia.
